Race car mechanic Andressa “Andi” Amaro has one rule—no dating drivers. With a good reason behind the rule, she has no plans on breaking it.

Carrick Ryan is the bad boy of Formula One. With a face and body that melts panties on sight, and an Irish lilt that leaves women on their knees, begging for more. He races hard and parties harder. The youngest driver to ever sign with F1, he’s still at the top of his game five years later, breaking hearts on and off the tracks.

When Andi is offered her dream job working in the glamorous world of F1, she leaves her home in Brazil, positive she can handle working for Carrick. But she’s not prepared for the off-the-chart sparks that fly the moment they meet.

Now, Andi has a crush on the one man she can’t have, and her resolve is about to be put to the test, because Carrick has decided he wants Andi, and he plans on testing her to the very limit…

I run my fingertips over the blue-and-silver paintwork as I walk toward the back end. Bending over, I start poking around, taking a look at the engine.

“Please tell me that you’re my birthday present.”

The Irish drawl has the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end.

I turn my head to find Carrick Ryan standing behind me.

Oh. Wow.

He’s definitely better looking in the flesh than on television. I knew he was attractive. But blonds aren’t usually my thing. I’m more of a dark-hair-and-dark-eyes kind of girl.

But his dirty-blond hair, blue eyes laced with sin, and full lips—the kind of lips you spend hours sucking on—and that chiseled jaw decorated with stubble…yep, it all seems to be working for me. Well, my body anyway. Definitely not my head. Man-sluts are not my thing.

My eyes meet with his as he lifts them from blatantly staring at my arse. The look in them hits me straight in the gut, surprising the hell out of me. His eyes are profoundly blue and filled with heat. My skin starts to prickle as his intense stare burns me up.

I’ve never had such an instant visual reaction to a man before.

Take it easy, Andi. This isn’t a problem. You’ve met good-looking men before. You can turn this off. Drivers are a no-go area, especially ones you work for.

My job is too important to lose over a man.

Straightening, I turn to face him.

“Hello,” I say in my most confident and formal voice.

I get nothing back, and that’s because he hasn’t heard me. He’s too busy staring at my breasts.

Typical man.

I have the sudden urge to punch him in his handsome face.

But I won’t because I’m a professional. I’ll handle this in the best way I know when it comes to dealing with pervy dickheads like him.

“It’s your birthday?” I say sweetly, my smile a little on the flirtatious side.

He grins. “It sure is, and it’s definitely looking up now that you’re here. Are you going to make it extra special for me, sugar?”

He thinks he’s about to get lucky.

Far from it. Smarmy twat.

I tilt my head to the side, keeping the flirty smile on my face, as I walk up to him until there’s very little space between us. I press my fingers to his chest. God, that’s firm. I can feel the ridge of his muscles underneath my fingertips.

He’s tall, too, a good few inches higher than my five-nine. I’d say he’s six-one, which is tall for a driver, but he’s lean. He needs to be to fit into those cars. I bet, under those clothes of his, there’s nothing but toned muscle. Drivers have to be seriously fit, and Carrick Ryan certainly ticks that box on both counts.

Now, I’m imagining him naked. Great. Just fucking great.

I force my focus back to the now. “Well…” I lean in closer to him, hearing him suck in a sharp breath. I lower my voice as I whisper, “If you ever call me sugar again, you won’t see your next birthday. That’s for sure.”

He tilts his head back in amusement. “Feisty. I like it.”

I take a step back, dropping my hand from his chest. “There’s nothing here for you to like.”

His eyes run the length of me, lingering on my legs, the lusty look firing in them again. “I see plenty to like. Jesus…your legs go on forever.”

I wish I had something to hide my legs behind. Instead, I fold my arms to bring his focus up. “I’m not your type.”

Lifting his eyes back to mine, he gives me a confident smile. “Amazing arse. Great stems. Awesome rack. Beautiful face. Yep”—he nods—“you’re definitely my type.”

5 champagne popping, podium topping stars*****
When I review a book it normally takes me a couple of days to gather my thoughts and actually type anything but when I finished Revved I couldn’t get the words down quick enough. I will start by saying this will probably make no sense at all as I am currently drunk on words, words spoken by the strong, sassy, extremely endearing Andressa Amaro and the ridiculously hot, brooding, sinfully sexy Carrick Ryan. Words that the amazingly talented Samantha Towle somehow managed to put together and turn into one of my fave reads ever and definitely the best book I’ve read this year.
We start in Monaco with one of the saddest first chapters I’ve read and it’s hard for your heart not to break for the 10 year old Andressa but it sets the scene for the first of many heartbreaks along the way. Monaco broke my heart twice over and yet I still loved it.
I loved the ‘will they, won’t they’ aspect of the book but it had my heart in my mouth constantly. I really felt for Andi each time she had a run in with Carrick, my emotions felt so life like, I cringed when something embarrassing happened, I swooned when Carrick had his heartfelt moments and I cried when it all went to shit! I may have mentally shouted at the pair of them several times too.
Sometimes as a reader the female is the hard one to connect with after all they get the man of our dreams right? They either take too much crap from the guy or are too whiny. For me Andressa broke the mould for all her faults mainly her indecisiveness and ability to break Carrick’s heart I couldn’t dislike her she made me feel, in fact I’d go as far as to say I loved her as much as I loved Carrick. I was totally on her team and routing for her throughout. As for Carrick, holy hotness, I fell and I fell hard. He was such a charming, loveable guy and I don’t know what magic Samantha conjured up within her text but every time she mentioned him I mentally swooned she had a way of making him come alive before my eyes. The most impressive thing for me has to be the way I felt when Carrick walked into a room Samantha really captured the feeling between him and Andi so much so that I swear at times (when Andi was nervous about seeing him) I actually held my breath.
I know I just spewed a load of random feelings on a page but nothing I say can really do justice to this book or capture what I actually felt when reading, this book totally blew my mind. It’s such a beautiful story full of angst and a relatively simple plot that relied solely on the love between the characters to bring it alive. I have no idea how any book will follow this for me, it’s certainly going to take some getting over and it’s definitely the best book I’ve read this year it’s also easily secured itself in my top ten of all time and Carrick Ryan is right up the with the best!

Review ~ Love Reflection ~ Maria Macdonald

What happens when you find the love of your life, then you lose them?

Pearson Amberry lost the only man she’d ever loved. She has secrets she’s kept close for many years. Descending into a downward spiral that she couldn’t pull herself out of, her life was fast becoming just an existence. That was until a new man entered her life. A man with secrets of his own, and when the love of her life comes back unexpectedly, she knows it’s time to come clean.

Conner McKenna took a step back when he hurt Pearson. He left for another country when his work took him there, even though he didn’t want to. After years of trying to be her friend, and wanting to be back in her bed, he decided enough was enough. When one of their friends is attacked, he realises that life is too short and he needs to move heaven and earth to try and win her heart one more time. However, when he realises the truth will he be able to deal with it, and will he still look at Pearson the same way?

What will happen when secrets are revealed, and emotions are running high? Can they move on from their past and can they recognise the love reflected in each other?

The thing I love most about blogging is finding a gem of a book and getting lost in it, you know, the sort of book that has you thinking constantly and turning the pages as fast as you can, the sort of books that keep you up until the early hours? From the first chapter of love reflection I knew I had hit blogging gold.

From the off we meet Pea and her 3 friends that have been together forever their relationship is endearing and the love they share is apparent. It’s hard not to want to be part of the gang and the way Maria writes, drags you straight in so you feel like you’re one of them.

We find out that Pea and Con have been in a relationship but fate was not on their side, they still share a close friendship but it’s purely platonic, cue the perfect setting for a second chance romance. The problem is Pea has secrets she’s hidden from Con that mean their path to true love is anything but easy. Throw into that the mystery shrouding Saul and then the arrival of Dane and the possibilities are endless.
I love the way the book is written, it jumps from past to present but in a way that is not confusing or at all awkward. When Pea interrupted the present with her flashbacks I got annoyed thinking I want to know what’s happening now and then as soon as I started reading the flashback I didn’t want to go back to the present! My brain was conflicted what I really wanted was to know what was happening all at once, infact I wanted to know what was happening so badly that I stayed awake until 2.30am (even though I had to be up for work at 7) just to finish the book! I read the first 5 chapters separately and then devoured the rest in one whole sitting. Maria wrote beautifully and I was gripped from chapter to chapter.

This was a great read, the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is that the ending for me was a bit much. I’d have liked a little room to move on in the next book with Pea and Con, having said that the way Maria left things with Soph means that book two is a must! I’m excited for future books from Maria because if she’s capable of this with her debut she has bucket loads of promise for the next book and beyond.

HUSH HUSH by Anneliese Vandell – Review

Something terrible happened to April Morrison when she was eleven years old. When she returns home to New Orleans fourteen years later as “Sophia,” she has only one word on her mind: revenge. She’s got her eye on Charles and Barbara Hawthorne, the crowning jewel of New Orleans’ elite and the ones responsible for turning her life upside down.

Enter Liam Hawthorne, the couple’s successful, strikingly handsome, and irresistibly dominant thirty-two year old son. When Liam makes a provocative proposal, it occurs to April that he may be just the “in” she needs. But what she doesn’t  bargain for is Liam’s insatiable—and thrilling—sexual appetite. And as Liam begins to test April’s limits, she realizes that appearances are not what they seem.

This book is intended for mature audiences.

This book includes an exclusive excerpt of Hush Hush #2.

Author Bio

Anneliese Vandell isn’t the kind of woman you want to bring home to your mother. She specializes in writing steamy erotic romance with a twist of suspense, starring alpha males who are handsome, commanding, and fiercely protective of the women they love. When she is not writing, she can most likely be found searching for the perfect New York bagel.

Stalk Anneliese here;

This is a book we were contacted about, asking us to review it, luckily I had a few days break in between other scheduled reviews, or this Novella would have escaped me!

We have a girl, April, who’s Mum and Dad are taken away from her for living life on the con, forcing her to move away from everything she has ever known to stay with her Aunty.

To  April, or Sophia as she will later be known, her parents were the best people ever and so with a little help from her cousin, she is now plotting revenge on all those who played a part in sending her parents to prison.

Whilst staking out her first targets at a country club bar, she bumps into Liam. A strong, dominant,  Alpha-male who usually gets what he wants… Until Sophia that is…  April/Sophia has an undeniable, instant attraction to him but with her head in the game she begrudgingly refuses his advances. He slips her his card and that is when Anneliese Vandell really stirs things up and the story becomes impossible to put down.

I did question at times if April’s sense of right and wrong was leading her down the wrong path but the drama definitely makes for good entertainment.

The story is well written and structured brilliantly, all making for a smooth, enjoyable read. The characters chemistry and the push and pull between them created enough angst to get you on the edge of your seat at times. Even though it is only a Novella, you still get a lot of story for your money.

I can’t wait for book 2 which is released on 2nd of April to find out what will become of Liam and April/Sophia when all is revealed!

I recommend that you go buy this book now and read it ready for books 2’s release in a few weeks time!
